Cognitive Misfires
A series based on the integrity of systems. Containment. Organization. Degradation. What happens to memories we lose the paths to?
This triptych follows the degradation of a grid, from systematic and orderly to malfunctioning and chaotic. I used the Epilog Helix Laser in OCAC’s Fab Lab to execute three 24” x 13.5” hand set MDF grids, that consist of 2.2mm squares spaced 1.5mm apart, to house 15,252 red wooden kitchen matchsticks. Each grid took over 7 hours to cut.
